Post Questions about rare Skins

I just got back to playing guild wars and i saw somethings on rare skins, which i am having trouble understanding. Now ive got some questions.

1.What is a skin?

2. So if i have a crellenated sword and apply a gothic skin to my sword...it would become a gothic sword and NOT a crellenated sword? Also, if i apply it will it delete my other mods i.e sundering and fortitude mod.

3. What special features does it add (as of apperance from the original sword)?

4. Does it add a "Golden" to the title?

5. What is the general price ranges for the skins alone and not with the weapon?

6. Is it salvageable?

1. A skin is the weapon/offhand/artifact, what it looks like.
2. Skins are not change-able salvage-able or mod-able.
3. Adds absolutely nothing to the item other than price/cost (if sought after very rare type).
4. See 2 above
5. Can't seperate skin from item, see 2 above.
6. You can't salvage the inherent look of an item.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, what he said.

One more note to answer a question that you really didn't ask, but one that I can see you need to know from what you have said.

The "gold" title of a weapon comes from it being a gold weapon.

Whenever a weapon drops it will be one of five colors:

1) White
2) Light Blue
3) Purple
4) Gold
5) Green

White items are the most frequently dropped items and are the lowest in value.

Light Blue items are one step up from white in rareness and value.

Purple is the next step up in rareness and value.

Gold and Green are the most rare and valuble items in the game, but Green isn't really a step up from Gold, but more so a different type of rare item.

Specific bosses drop specific green items.

Gold can be found anywhere, but drop more often in high end areas. Also the chests that you find in areas which need keys to open will always give you either a purple or gold item. It is very rare for a gold to be given in the low level area, but quite common in the higher level areas.

Also Green items are specific items with specific names and stats to them. As such you can find a complete list with all the Green items that are in the game. They will always have the same name and the same stats. Where as gold items have random stats determined by the computer at the time they are dropped.

Here is a list of the green items in the game and you can also look up more about gold and other items (as well as just about anything else) on this site as well.

You can add mods to a sub-gold item to make it gold.
